In some way, “Friday Night Lights” became true testimony of Texas high school football being a statewide craze. Statewide means high school football runs in every county, in every Texan soul, including Hispanics. It’s no surprise that UTSA’s football program is aiming to become the official football team of South Texas, all the way to the border. It’s the same reason why Texas A&M Athletics just launched a Spanish radio network with stations in El Paso, McAllen, San Antonio, Houston and Sirius XM. With an increasing population of proud Texas-born Hispanics, football is giving fútbol a run for its money.
