Fashion Week’s Latino Flair

By: Mindy Shepperd, Assistant Account Executive

For the next week, New York City will be flooded with models, designers and fashion lovers alike for the annual Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Following in the footsteps of legendary Hispanic names in fashion, like Carolina Herrrera and the late Oscar de La Renta, who will soon have a street in New York City named after him, there are some new Latinos making their marks on the runway this year.

Here are just some of the Hispanic designers to look out for at MBFW: Angel Sanchez, who began his career in the Venezuela in the 90s; Stella Nolasco, known as one of Puerto Rico’s most avant garde designers; Roberto Lopéz Etxberria, who has featured his men’s fashion lines all over Spain and other parts of Europe; Cuban born but Miami raised Luli Fama; and Latin America’s fashion “prodigy child” Lupe Gajardo from Santiago, Chile.
