In the world of Hispanic advertising, a common refrain is that language is just a tool, and cultural relevance is the hot button. If you talk to a 15 year old about retirement planning, expect their eyes to glaze over and the volume of Pandora to increase exponentially because although you might be speaking his “language”, you are definitely not speaking to his “teenage cultural mindset.”
So who has been hitting the Hispanic hot button? Seems Hulu is getting Hispanic heads nodding with their English-language shows, East Los High and Los Cowboys, that speak to Hispanic passion points but in English, not Spanish. So if English is your only or preferred language, now you’ve got something that will keep your culture alive outside of your Abuelita.
