TV programming has seen a drop in viewership, but the numbers could be significantly lower if it weren’t for Social Media’s impact. Live TV viewers who actively tweet, especially when engaging brands and other influential followers, have shown to help affect ratings. Twitter users who watch live TV have stated that they are more likely to view certain programming because of the activity they are seeing on Social Media channels and feeds. One great example was the social interaction during this year’s Emmy’s. Clearly Social Media is a wonderful supporting platform not only for brands and celebrities but also for television.
