We all know that Hollywood can be a little disconnected from the “real world.” But underrepresenting 16% of the U.S. population?
A study was just released showing that a mere 4.9% of speaking roles in top movies were filled by Hispanic characters. That hasn’t, however, affected the rate at which Hispanics go to see these movies. So does that mean that this demographic doesn’t care if they are represented on the big screen or are they just used to not being there? Either way, a little more diversity would be a welcomed change.
