Pop-ups have grown beyond a niche retail movement to a verifiable way of doing business. Everything from pop-up hotels and parks to movie theaters and conversation salons have appeared, with recent iterations of the transient trend focused on providing an immersive tech experience. But obtaining and managing ephemeral spaces can present a logistical nightmare for brands – one that businesses are now helping to eliminate with unique pop-up services. UK-based Appear Here is an online marketplace for pop-ups that makes booking a temporary space as simple as booking a hotel. The entire process, including browsing empty storefronts, signing the legal documents, and making payments, is conducted online. The company operates in cities across England and Scotland, leasing out spots ranging from market stalls and high street storefronts to small arcade spaces. They recently partnered with Transport for London to transform underground stations like Old Street, Piccadilly Circus, St James’s Park and Baker Street into subterranean shopping destinations with constantly rotating storefronts.
