Boys Are Not in the Clear

Action figures and super heroes share one common trait aside from their super powers: superbly muscular bodies with six packs that are unattainable and unrealistic (not to mention incredibly brute-looking and unsexy). The body images that boys are fed via media and toys make them highly concerned with increasing muscle and becoming larger, leading to muscle-enhancing behaviors that boost muscularity such as steroid abuse and excessive amounts of exercise.
