As wearable technology becomes more pervasive (and some would say invasive), it will force new rules of etiquette. It wasn’t always considered universally rude to open your cell phone and begin a text conversation during a movie at a theater. Today, doing so will get you tossed out of many. Societal “rules” affect culture in all sorts of ways, imaginable and unimaginable. At its basest point, it determines what is mainstream… and what is not. Will wearing your Google Glass headset into a restaurant one day be considered mainstream or counter-culture? Today, the jury’s still out.
