Provoke Weekly – 1/02 Start 2014 Off On The “Right Foot.”

Start 2014 Off On The “Right Foot.” “Out with the old and in with the new” is a phrase often associated with the coming of a new year. It?s a time to reflect on what was and hope for what could be. It?s a time to start over, try again, adopt new practices and get rid of bad habits. For many Hispanics, what they do at the stroke of midnight on New Year?s Eve has large implications on the following year. It?s all about traditions and superstitions. Brazilians jump in the ocean. Mexicans sweep their home. Panamanians have muecos. Colombians blow up effigies. Hispanics from every country in Latin America have a custom they cling to when they arrive in the United States. Here are a few traditions and superstitions that Hispanics abide by ? no matter how ridiculous they may seem. Whether or not you partook in any of these at the stroke of midnight, we wish you a happy new year. May 2014 bring you prosperity, love, health and travel!
