For the first time in more than two decades, Seattle artists have topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Moreover, they did so on the back of iTunes sales alone, and without the assistance of a record label taking a cut. “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis jumped to the No. 1 position this week, beating Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift. Earlier this month, the single went platinum with more than a million copies sold.
